Our SEO Process

The SEO process is divided into six broad phases: research, which includes business research, competition analysis, current state assessment, and keyword searching; planning, which includes keyword research; implementation; and evaluation. Decisions on how to handle content and develop connections to the website as well as managing social media presence and technological implementation techniques are all part of the planning and strategy phase.

Off-Site SEO Analysis

Every search engine optimization starts with a thorough keyword study. Among other things, this process comprises an examination of rivals, the linkages (internal and external), social media presence, and the international and multilingual usage of the website.

Technical SEO Optimizations

Technical SEO improvements include employing title tags, meta descriptions, and header tags appropriately, as well as boosting website load speed and leveraging structured data. It should also check that search engines can index all necessary sites.

Usability Check

This stage assesses the website's usability. The website should be user-friendly on both desktop and mobile devices. Smartphone use has become critical. Studies on user behavior and recent Google suggestions back this up.

Link Building

Knowledge from the off-site analysis is used to increase the amount and quality of external links in this stage, which builds on the information gained from the previous step.

Content Marketing

A high-quality piece of content will be shared and linked to with ease by users. As a result, content marketing is an essential component of any SEO plan.A high-quality piece of content will be shared and linked to with ease by users. SEO FAQs

There’s a lot to learn about SEO – anything from the broadest concepts to the most precise strategies. We’ve compiled some of the most frequently asked questions in one place.

SEO, or Search Engine Optimization, is the process of increasing the number of visitors that come to a website by improving the website’s rankings on SERPS, search engine results pages.

Search engine optimization is the process of affecting the visibility of a website or a web page in a search engine’s “natural” or “organic” search results.

The natural search results are the groupings of search results that a search engine provides to its users, in which the search engine’s computers thoroughly analyze the relevance and importance of web pages to display a subset of the web pages that it considers to be the most relevant.

In addition to organic search results, a search engine might also provide its users with paid search results, which are usually listed at the top and right-hand side of the page.

SEO is an acronym for Search Engine Optimization and it is a set of techniques aimed at improving the visibility of a website in a search engine’s results, usually the Internet’s search engine, the Google search engine. The search engine may penalize websites for poor search result placement. This process is called search engine optimization and has gained wide popularity in recent years.

There is a method to the madness that is searching. In the midst of all this SEO hype, it’s easy to forget how those ranking pages came to be in the first place.
Crawling is the first step in the SEO process. That would be the crawl of a search engine.

Crawl: The first step in the SEO funnel

You must first have your content discovered by search engines in order for it to appear in search results.
Their method of locomotion is referred to as crawling.
In order to find and crawl links, search engine bots like Googlebot and Bingbot use two primary methods.

  • They follow links from known pages to find new and updated pages.
  • They crawl from a list of pages the website owner submits to Google — a sitemap.

The URL inspection tool in Google Search Console allows you to manually request that Google crawl (or re-crawl) your page. In Bing Webmaster Tools, there is also the Submit URLs option.
Nevertheless, there’s a snag. When it comes to crawling every page, search engines are limited in time and resources. What was their reaction? A spending plan or estimate.
This is the maximum number of pages that a search engine will crawl on a given website. The amount of money Google allocates for crawling is based on the crawl rate limit and the amount of demand for crawling.

  • The crawl rate limit is determined by crawl health (how quickly the site responds to requests) and the limit set in Google Search Console (website owners have the option of reducing Googlebot’s crawl of their site).
  • Crawl demand is the combination of a site’s popularity and staleness.

Websites with fewer than tens of thousands of pages, on the other hand, can cause issues for search engines.
Search engine bots are more likely to miss pages on a large site.
Who takes care of the missing sections? These pages won’t be included in the search engine’s index and thus won’t appear in the search results or generate revenue for the website owner.
What happens to the pages that are crawled, though?

Render: The second step in the SEO funnel

Search engines may need to render your pages if they find them using JavaScript, which is the modern web’s standard scripting language.
Search engines, like crawlers, are limited in the resources they can use to render content. How do you explain it? They too have a render budget, as you might have guessed.
Google refers to this indexing as the “second wave.” They don’t run any JavaScript on a page’s HTML before indexing it. The page is then rendered and indexed as soon as rendering resources are available.
According to Martin Splitt, a Google employee, while this two-wave indexing is still possible, it will become more commonplace in the future. Why? Apparently, rendering JavaScript is less expensive than Google originally thought, which means that rendering delays will be less of a factor in the future.
Until then, Google will index JavaScript websites in two phases, so any content or links you load using JavaScript may be missed by Google at first.
You need to have a JavaScript SEO auditing solution because if it isn’t rendered in the index, it won’t be added.

Index: The third step in the SEO funnel

Adding your pages to the index is a simple process once they have been discovered by search engines and rendered.
While the index is where search engines keep their content, it is also used to organize and categorize it.
‘We take note of key signals — from keywords to website freshness — and we keep track of it all in the Search index,’ Google states.
When a page is crawled, rendered, and indexed by search engines, it is ready to be served as a relevant answer to queries.

Rank: The fourth step in the SEO funnel

Crawling, rendering, and indexing your important content is all about ensuring that search engines can find it. For example, if you type in a word or phrase into Google or Bing, the search engine will return results that are ordered by relevance.
Just because your page is eligible for ranking does not guarantee that it will appear on the first page of Google’s results. As a result, how can search engine optimization professionals and the brands they represent ensure that their target audience finds their most important content?
The following is what we recommend:

  1. Your audience is searching for you based on the real words and phrases they’re using, and what’s trending up or down. Google (via Google Search Console, GSC API, or RealKeywords) provides you with access to this information. Make use of it to enhance and generate new content!
  2. Make sure you’re serving content that’s appropriate for a searcher’s location and language by knowing where they’re looking.
  3. Know how your mobile search audience differs from your desktop search audience, and tailor your content to them accordingly.
  4. Each URL should be mapped to a set of keywords — See what keywords your pages are showing up for in search results. In order to provide a strong answer, use this information!

Convert: The fifth step in the SEO funnel

Searchers are more likely to click on your content if it ranks highly for its target keywords. Additionally, you want those site visitors to carry out the tasks you’ve set out for them (convert).
It doesn’t matter how your website generates revenue — whether it’s through e-commerce sales, lead generation forms, or traffic and subscriptions (if you’re a publisher), you want the rankings that come from your SEO efforts to help you get there.
SEO activities can have a positive impact on your bottom line, but how do you know which of your actions produced the best results for your bottom line?

How the SEO funnel changes the way we think about SEO ROI

In order to reap the benefits of organic search, you must understand the importance of each stage in the SEO funnel and prioritize optimizing at each stage.
About 80,000 queries are processed by search engines every second. Is your company actively pursuing this opportunity?
The return on SEO investment is significantly higher for companies that prioritize it (91 percent ). Increased sales (65%) from higher conversions (62%), according to Forrester Consulting research commissioned by UpstairsSEO, were the most significant benefit of the strategy.
So if you want to reap the long-term benefits of organic search, keep in mind that it all begins with crawling.

With so many variables to consider, the price of SEO services may be difficult to pin down. According to the scale of the project, SEO efforts are expected to cost between $750-$2,000 per month in 2022. A one-time job may cost between $5,000 and $30,000, and experts’ hourly charges vary from $80-$200.

How much does the average SEO project cost?

While SEO is a critical tool in your digital marketing arsenal, it’s difficult to gauge how much it will cost on a normal campaign.
A typical SEO campaign might cost anything from $400 to $10,000, depending on the degree of service. Working with an hourly SEO consultant or contracting with a full-service SEO business are examples of these initiatives.
For context, a small firm with a 15-page website is normally on the lower end of the range, whereas an eCommerce shop with 50,000+ goods should count on a higher SEO spend.

When it comes to SEO, how much should you expect to pay?

The cost of SEO services will vary depending on the size of your organization and the services you need.
When it comes to SEO services, you get what you pay for, therefore it’s crucial to keep this in mind.
Don’t sacrifice quality for “cheap” SEO services when picking an SEO provider.
Ongoing SEO consultations with an industry leader will be more costly than with an inexperienced and untested business, as is common in many other professional services sectors.
Finally, the budget you choose for SEO should be based on your objectives.
The scope of your SEO effort will grow in direct proportion to the size of your website. SEO services will cost you extra because of this.
As an SEO strategy, it’s crucial to keep in mind that it’s never finished.
A monthly SEO strategy will keep your site fresh and help it to remain at the top of search results, rather than relying on one-time SEO tactics.

Is there a standard for SEO prices in 2022?

As a result of this, there is no industry standard for typical SEO rates
Anyone may pretend to be an SEO company and charge whatever they want. For continuous monthly SEO programs, the customer is ultimately responsible for determining reasonable pricing.
Because of this, it’s even more critical to know exactly what you’re getting for your Internet marketing spending. In this method, you may determine if the investment is worthwhile based on the expected return. Your final selection should be based on the SEO services included’s long-term worth.
Because of the wide range of SEO options, it is critical to understand how to price SEO.

Yes, your firm should spend in search engine optimization. Search engine optimization enables you to grow your traffic without having to pay for each hit.
When you run PPC advertisements, you will be charged for each click that leads to your website via that channel. However, if your website achieves a natural search engine ranking, this traffic is virtually free (at least in terms of a cost-per-click). Of course, ranking a website on the SERPs requires investment in skills and resources.
If you are able to rank your website at the top of the search engines, you will benefit from a steady stream of traffic that will not incur click fees and will continue even when ads are off. You’ll get 24/7 visibility if you rank organically.
However, it’s worth noting that organic search accounts for an average of 53% of total site traffic. If you disregard SEO, your competitors will benefit from this traffic. The majority of businesses cannot afford to overlook the importance of SEO. Whatever type of business you run, whether you’re a small local operation, sell online, or operate on a worldwide scale, you need to pay close attention to your SEO strategy.

A couple of days? Months? Years? It’s a delicate subject with many variables, but knowing when to expect results from your SEO strategies is something every marketer needs to understand.

One of the most important things to consider in your digital marketing strategy is your SEO.

SEO, or search engine optimization, is the foundation on which your content can be crawled and indexed by search engines, which in turn helps your website and pages be found.

Without SEO, you can’t succeed in today’s digital landscape.

Even though it’s important, it can also be confusing for marketers.

What’s the reason for SEO taking so long?

First, let’s take a look at the reasons why search engine optimization (SEO) takes so long to have an influence on your organization.
Additionally, the search engine’s functionality is always being improved by Google, which regularly updates its crawling and indexing algorithm.
There were a lot of shortcuts and tricks to play on the algorithm when SEO first came into the picture in digital marketing techniques.
Google has worked hard to improve the algorithm so that it can’t be misled in an attempt to assist consumers to obtain the results they desire rather than merely discovering the websites that know the cheat codes.
As it grew more difficult to rank, it also took longer to see SEO results.

As a result of the use of specific keywords and phrases in search engine optimization (SEO), the writing style is known as SEO writing (also known as SEO writing or writing for SEO).
It’s commonly referred to as “keyword stuffing,” and it’s a way to get your website noticed by search engines.

But why is it necessary for websites to have it?

A website’s content, service, or product must be available to anyone searching for it on search engines on a regular basis.
In order to attract visitors to their website and connect with their content, service or product or service, website owners need traffic (visitors). In order to attract visitors to their websites, they must provide search engines with valuable material.
There are a few things you should be aware of if you plan to begin your SEO writing career by creating a new site.

Relevant and SEO-friendly material will always be at the top of the list of priorities.
Your website’s user experience and the way search engines refer to it based on certain keywords or keyphrases are both determined by this factor.
In this post, I’ll show you how I’ve learned the most important SEO writing components from my blog adventure since the beginning.

1. Select a keyword to use.

The selection of the most appropriate keyword is the most critical component of your SEO approach. A keyword is a word or phrase that people enter into search engines in order to discover the most relevant information and answers possible.
You must put out effort in selecting the most relevant, low-competitive keywords for your website and developing content around those keywords in order to boost your search rankings in search engines.
Keyword research, backlink analysis, competition rankings, keyword tracking, and a thorough SEO audit of your site are all possible using this popular SEO tool (which also happens to be my personal favorite).
When you enter a term into Semrush, it displays information about the phrase’s search volume, difficulty, trend, and keyword variations, allowing you to obtain a better understanding of the keyword that you’re concentrating on.
You will have a better probability of ranking your piece of content for a keyword if the term has a big search volume and the difficulty is possible.
Furthermore, you must pay close attention to the keyword trend. In other words, there are some terms that people search for the most during specific seasons of the year (seasonal keywords).

2. Create a Title That Is Perfect

The title informs search engines and visitors about the page’s content and value. A catchy title might increase your search engine click-through rate.
Your title should be between 50-60 characters long. It is always advisable to put the keyword or phrase at the start of the title.

3. Include the keyword in the URL if possible.

Your post URL should focus on your content and be succinct and SEO-friendly.
If you use WordPress, you may customize your permalink structure in “General settings” to make it more user-friendly.
Also, use HTTPS (HyperText Transfer Protocol Secure) for your website or blog. If not, you must obtain an SSL certificate for your website or blog.
If not, contact your hosting provider to obtain one.

4. Begin writing with the keyword in mind (s)

Make sure to put your targeted keyword in the first paragraph of your SEO content, at the beginning of the page. This will assist you in getting started with SEO writing by providing an introduction to the topic you’ll be writing about in depth.
Also, be sure to include your keyword in the appropriate areas as listed below:

  • Title
  • URL
  • The first paragraph
  • Subheadings (where possible)
  • Paragraphs (if possible)
  • Alt-tags for images

Consider using the LSI keywords in your text as well, as well. If you’re looking for keywords that are linked to your primary or target keyword, LSI (latent semantic indexing) keywords can help.
Keyword placement does not necessitate a change in an editorial style. Write in your own voice and style, and naturally incorporate your keywords throughout your article.

5. Link to Other Posts

Internal links are essential in SEO writing since they inform search engines about the content of your website. Visitors will spend more time on your website if it has a clear structure and is easy for them to navigate.
As a result, you’ll be able to link all of your blog posts together.

6. Get Links From Other Websites

They’re known as “Backlinks.” A backlink is a link that points to your website from another site. To search engines, backlinks are a signal that your material is trustworthy.
If you want to rank higher in Google, Backlinko says the number of domains connecting to your website is the most important criterion.
This means that backlinks can have a substantial effect on the growth of a website in search engine rankings.
When it comes to link building, quality is always more important than the number. If it’s not relevant to your material, don’t link to it.
Writing new “up-to-date” information and contacting other sites that still link to obsolete content is a great approach to do this.

A number of considerations should be taken into consideration when conducting keyword research.

  • You’ll need to get a high-level understanding of your target audience. For example, our target audience consists of individuals who require assistance with digital marketing. All of our SEO efforts should be focused on attracting this specific audience.
  • Create a list of your “seed keywords.” These are the extremely brief one- to two-word keywords that customers use to find your company. SEO, web design, website development, digital marketing, and other related services are examples of what we do.
  • Determine whether there are any other related keyword phrases that stem from the seed keyword concept. An example of one of these phrases would be “How to do keyword research for SEO,” which would be something like Even while there’s a fantastic keyword phrase that our target audience would be interested in, it’s not what you’d call a “seed keyword.”
  • After that, you should consider the search traffic and competition. Determine which of those keywords merits your search engine optimization attention, as well as how much of your time and effort you should devote to them. Both the search volume for these terms and the level of competition will be considered when making this determination. In an ideal situation, you would have a large search traffic and little competitors. This is what we at Joshua Lyons Marketing refer to as “low-hanging fruit.”

The practice of obtaining other websites to link to your website is known as link building.
You know, links are one of Google’s top three ranking indicators, and they serve as a vote of confidence from one website to another, as seen by this example.
If five people who didn’t know each other all suggested a certain restaurant as the greatest in your city, you would be more inclined to believe that you would be able to enjoy a nice meal there because numerous persons were vouching for it, as we said in our ‘What are Backlinks?’ article.
As long as you think about links in this way, you can easily understand why they are such a significant ranking element. However, not all hyperlinks are created equal, and not all hyperlinks are of excellent quality. Manipulative and artificial linkages have been identified in some instances. Attempt to obtain links from websites that are both topically similar to yours and that are considered authoritative in their field.

As a result of the SEO Specialist’s work, websites that have been optimized for the likes of Google and Bing rank higher in search engine results.
In order to increase website traffic, generate more leads, and raise awareness of a brand, an SEO expert works to optimize each page of a website. All digital marketing and traditional marketing professionals, whether they’re working for a small start-up company or a large corporation, have one goal in common: to increase sales.
An SEO Specialist can increase a website’s visibility on Google by conducting keyword research and using SEO tools like Google Analytics. This, in turn, has major benefits for any company. Additionally, they may collaborate closely with other members of a marketing team to develop new initiatives or improve the management of social media accounts in order to increase user interaction and website traffic.
Here are a few of the most important characteristics that successful SEO experts must possess in order to succeed in the digital marketing and search engine optimization industry:

1. Understanding SEO’s three levels

SEO has three tiers, and any good SEO Specialist should keep all three in mind when developing a marketing strategy:

  • The non-content elements of your website are referred to as “technical.” Website back-end structure and foundation can be improved using these methods. Technical SEO can help improve the speed, indexability, mobile-friendliness, crawlability, and architecture of a site by conducting a thorough site analysis. Improved readability improves user experience and shows search engines that a website is a good one as a result of technical SEO.
  • The term “on-page SEO” refers to the process of improving the content of your website so that search engines can better understand the subject matter and recognize it as a valuable resource. On-page SEO includes the use of such elements as keywords, meta tags, internal links, and HTML title tags in ways that help increase search engine traffic and ensure that your website is near the top of the Google results page..
  • By using a variety of link-building strategies, you can improve your website’s relationship with other websites through off-page optimization. Extensive use of off-page SEO tactics can help to establish a website’s authority in the eyes of search engine algorithms, allowing it to rise to the top of the results page.

A thorough understanding of all aspects of search engine optimization is necessary for SEO professionals to understand how your website ranks in Google search results..

2. Adept at marketing with a savvy mind

There are obviously a lot of technical aspects involved in SEO, and understanding what could be preventing your website from showing up in the search results is essential. It’s a lot like other digital marketing or even traditional marketing jobs once you get past that initial hurdle: you need to create and position content so that it highlights the consumer’s benefit while also nudges them closer to making a purchase.
It’s difficult to create content that appeals to search engine users and Google’s algorithm at the same time because of this. That’s something you learn over time.
As an SEO Specialist and digital marketing professional, it’s important to have a deeper understanding of search engine optimization (SEO). Content marketing, consumer psychology, social media landscapes, web design and development, viral advertising strategies, and overall business goals that help drive brand awareness and conversions are all important factors to consider when working in an SEO role.

3. Being able to see the bigger picture

Everything is affected by SEO, as we’ve already established. SEO cannot be separated from the rest of these considerations because company websites are so important.
Setting clear objectives for SEO campaigns is a good idea. Is your primary goal as an SEO Specialist to improve your website’s search engine rankings, traffic, brand awareness, or customer conversions?
A successful SEO Specialist will have defined their goals and be able to keep the organization’s larger goals in mind while implementing an SEO strategy.

4. Communication skills and a willingness to work with others are essential.

Sales, customer service, web development, analytics, IT, and marketing are just a few of the areas in which an SEO Specialist may work. But explaining how and why a website redesign increases traffic and sales isn’t always straightforward. That’s where your ability to express yourself clearly comes in handy.
If you’re working as an SEO specialist, you need to be able to explain why certain changes are necessary and how they will benefit both your website and your company’s bottom line in a clear and compelling manner. To do so, you’ll need the ability to work effectively with people from all kinds of backgrounds and perspectives.
In addition, you may be tasked with writing specific content for the site, so it’s important to have excellent writing skills for SEO jobs.

5. Curiosity and a willingness to adapt

Google is constantly tweaking its search engine ranking algorithms. Depending on your point of view, that could be frustrating or exciting for you; however, a good SEO Specialist approaches this challenge with a positive attitude.
In order to succeed in the SEO industry, you’ll have to be adaptable. SEO specialists, on the other hand, rely on it to stay relevant in their field. The more companies you manage, the more important it is to stay on top of the ever-changing SEO best practices as an SEO expert. If you’re in charge of a single company’s website, you can’t afford to be complacent.

The subject of whether a company should spend in SEO, PPC, or both is one that is frequently raised. It’s the age-old conflict between search engine optimization and pay-per-click advertising.
To avoid being dependent on any single source of traffic, a firm should strive to balance several marketing channels in order to achieve success (and conversions). However, budgeting can be difficult, particularly for small enterprises, and resources must be distributed properly. There is a limit to the amount of money available.
However, even in this case, it is critical to strike a balance between a long-term SEO strategy and a small but targeted PPC campaign.

An SEO consultant is an expert in digital marketing who has honed a specific set of skills.
Essentially, their job is to use SEO tactics to attract and convert potential customers from search engines like Google, Bing, and Yahoo, and then turn those customers into paying customers.
Planning, strategy, creativity, and execution are required for this. How do you know what to look for in a search engine optimization specialist?

Goals of an SEO Consultant

Why am I paying this person? is another way to think about what a search engine consultant’s goals are. The objectives I set for each of my clients are somewhat different, but in general, they look like this:

  • Customers will find you if you help them find you. Why waste time, money, and resources on a great website if no one can find it? That’s my favorite saying. In order to increase the number of people who find your website through organic search, you’ll need the help of an SEO professional.
  • Assist you in staying on top of the online game. If you don’t use SEO, your competitors have one less thing to worry about.
A plot of land can only accommodate so many houses, and Google is no different. Possessing a larger number of homes increases your wealth-creating potential. The more search engine real estate you own, the more opportunities you have to build wealth there are.
  • Ensure your presence on the web isn’t lost. You’ve probably heard the phrase “out of sight, out of mind” before. Your customers won’t even consider you if you don’t appear prominently for important targeted keywords. They have no idea what they’re missing.
This can be viewed as a publication in the traditional sense of the word. In terms of visibility and relevance, the person on the cover is more prominent than someone on page 98.
  • Advancing your business in the right direction. SEO and analytics are intertwined. An SEO consultant will examine their strategies to see what’s working and what isn’t so that they can make adjustments.
We include monthly reporting in all of our SEO consulting packages because we need to demonstrate to our clients the value of our work and what we should do next based on data. It should almost always be about the numbers!

“If SEO is such an important marketing strategy, shouldn’t we all be SEO experts?” you may ask.
In fact, SEO should be part of any business that has an online presence (which is nowadays almost every business). Yes, every business owner should understand SEO and its value.
But becoming an SEO expert takes practice and time. Your time is better spent developing holistic marketing strategies and finding collaborators.
Your brand needs experience outside your brand. You miss opportunities that an expert outsider would see.
Your company, your audience, and the digital marketing space benefit greatly from working with a good SEO consultant. So your next step should be to find someone who shares your company’s marketing goals.

The 5 Steps for How to Hire an SEO Expert

1. Understand the value of SEO for your business

Learn how SEO can transform your company before you start looking for an SEO expert. Examine relevant case studies of companies in your industry that have benefited from SEO.
When faced with a problem, people turn to Google for help. We use search engines to find the best restaurants nearby, learn how to do minor home repairs, and even hire an SEO expert.
Your ideal customers – those who need your company’s services – are also looking online for solutions. SEO lets you reach them when they need you. SEO helps them learn about your business, assess your product’s suitability for their needs, and ultimately pay for your service. Then your company is busy expanding their product line, meeting with potential partners, or looking for growth opportunities.
Once you realize the power of SEO, it’s time to find a consultant who can help you maximize its benefits and boost your marketing efforts.

2. Look for someone with proven results

This is where you must be critical in your search. You must be skeptical of anyone claiming to be a “SEO expert”.
Begin by defining your goals in a job description. Focus on improving your online visibility and reach, not just increasing website traffic. Look for a firm that combines SEO and online marketing.
Examine the results of your SEO candidates. Ask for case studies and an overview of their strategies’ business impact. For more information on how your applicant’s SEO strategies have helped other businesses improve and sustain their online marketing efforts, ask for references and contact a few past clients.
Find someone who fits your company. Have they done SEO in the same field? Ideally, you want someone who has done both industry-specific and general SEO. With this perspective and skill set, they can approach SEO challenges creatively and tactically.

3. Get to know them during a free discovery call

A good SEO expert will set up a discovery call to discuss your needs and goals.
It’s two-way No sales pitch or SEO tactics should be discussed during the call. Each company has distinct advantages. No single SEO strategy works for every business. A good SEO consultant tailors their services to each client.
During my discovery calls with potential clients, I always ask about their business and marketing goals. It’s my job as an SEO consultant to advise clients on the best strategy. While I use SEO systems and best practices to develop and execute my strategy, creativity and adaptability are key to finding new growth opportunities.
After all, SEO should aim to increase a company’s impact and revenue, not just traffic. The discovery call allows me and my potential clients to assess our mutual strengths and weaknesses.
When an SEO asks about your current goals and pains, it means they want to learn more about your company and marketing strategies. Use the free discovery calls to learn more about the SEOs you’ve chosen.

4. Align your budget with their deliverables

After the discovery calls, you now have a shortlist of SEO experts who have the potential to boost and scale your marketing efforts. Now it’s time to find a person who fits your objectives and your budget.

Businesses at different stages have different SEO needs. Go with an SEO expert who can scale their deliverables to your needs and resources. At the same time, don’t ask for too much for too little. Be realistic about your budget and what an SEO expert can do with it. With good initial results, you can then scale and allot more resources to your SEO project.

Ask for fees and payment terms – will the consultant be paid hourly, by retainer, or by project?

As an SEO consultant, I find working with clients on a retainer basis to be the best arrangement. This is the best way to develop a long-term SEO strategy that grows their businesses steadily and within their marketing budgets.

5. Outline your expectations

Before signing the contract, confirm that you and your SEO expert are on the same page. Do you share the same goals?
Be wary of SEO experts who guarantee top search engine rankings. No one can guarantee specific results because SEO is so dependent on external factors.
Expert SEOs usually over-promise and under-deliver. I want you to have realistic expectations of SEO’s impact and a timeline for results. So I always start with the strategy with my clients. My process takes up to a month to outline depending on the project scope. I estimate the total investment and the business impact. Because SEO works best in conjunction with other digital marketing strategies, I advise them on how to improve their online visibility and reach.
Ask your candidate about their long-term plan. Sure, quick wins are great, but when setting goals, think long-term.
My clients’ SEO strategies are scalable and long-term, even when I leave a company. I also educate and train marketing point team members so that SEO becomes part of their business processes.

Before hiring an SEO expert, consider whether their approach matches yours or if they can adapt to your management style. Ask:

  • How do they plan to measure the success of their SEO campaigns?
  • How will you know if you are on track to achieve your business goals? Will they send you monthly progress updates and reports?
  • How will you communicate, and how often?

Twice-monthly strategy and check-in calls have helped me and my client stay focused on our long-term goals. Knowing the basics and business value of SEO helps me tackle projects more creatively and sustainably. That’s why I emphasize client education.

Making the right choice for your next SEO agency impacts your business and your bank account. Choosing between a good and bad SEO specialist can mean the difference between increased organic traffic and lower Google rankings. With the right SEO partner, any business can increase sales, reduce advertising costs, and improve user experience. Here are five things to think about before hiring a new SEO firm.

1. SEO is not magic so avoid anyone who talks about it abstractly.

SEO, or optimizing your website for organic traffic, is difficult and often misunderstood. People who claim special knowledge of Google’s algorithms or who exaggerate the mystique surrounding SEO are usually lying. Rather, good SEO requires a thorough understanding of search engine algorithms, meticulous attention to detail, and frequent updates.
Buying links, keyword stuffing, and cloaking can also cause search engines to penalize your website. Black Hat SEO techniques defy search engine rules. Google’s bots will devalue your site’s ranking if they discover you’re using these tools. SEO experts with special knowledge may be using Black Hat SEO techniques, for which you will pay a high price.

2. Be specific about your goals and find an Agency that can meet them.

Do not hire an SEO firm whose goal is to “increase organic traffic.” For starters, organic traffic comes in many forms, so increasing traffic does not automatically increase revenue. For example, being #1 on Google for Italian men’s shoes does not help your CBD business.
To avoid ambiguity, you and your team should define your SEO goals. Do you want to rank for certain keywords to increase sales? Do you need to lower your website’s bounce rate or increase conversions? Would you rather have a large audience or a smaller audience that spends more time on your site? Are you looking for help with social media, sponsored content, or other services besides SEO?
No matter which SEO firm you choose, be clear about the results you want and the services you need.

3. Don’t just go by a Google search for ‘best SEO’ lists. Instead, go by word of mouth.

Why shouldn’t you choose an SEO firm based on their search engine rankings? The best SEO experts are too busy optimizing websites for clients to optimize their own.
The best companies have many repeat customers who have referred friends and colleagues to the same service. Best SEO company in Austin, for example, will only rank for new clients. This also applies to “best SEO services” and “best SEO tools.”
Also, no listicle is impartial. Generally, companies on that list paid a premium to be there. Companies that do well on SEO already have too much business to pay to be on a “bestseocompanies.com” list. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t trust lists like “best SEO companies” or “best restaurants in New York.”
So the best way to find a qualified SEO firm is by word of mouth. Instead of Google, ask colleagues, but not direct competitors, for recommendations. Asking other businesses in your industry can also be beneficial because their recommendations will be based on experience.

4. Find an SEO Agency with metrics that work for you.

Once you’ve defined your objectives and selected a few companies to work with, it’s time to establish a clear method for tracking your progress. In other words, why rank for specific keywords?
Before hiring your next SEO firm, make sure you and your consultant agree on KPIs. KPIs are metrics that can be applied to virtually any aspect of a business, including SEO. For example, a new production company will have different goals than an established clientele company.
But KPIs are much more. We have so much data that it’s easy to get lost or track the wrong KPIs. This means you need an SEO firm that knows which metrics matter most to your company and can translate that data into something you can use. Among the most critical KPIs to consider are:
Session types: How many organic search visitors do you get? This is the most basic and important KPI in SEO. You can also look at things like average page views, visit duration, unique visitors, and bounce rate.
% conversion How many visitors buy your product, subscribe to your newsletter, or interact with your content?
In general, have your keyword rankings improved since hiring your SEO firm?
Googling blunders Google crawling is how a Google bot indexes your website’s content. Google cannot index your website properly if it cannot read it, affecting organic traffic.
Page load time directly correlates to how quickly visitors leave your site. According to Think with Google, increasing page loading time from one to five seconds increases bounce rate by 90%.

5. Choose an SEO Agency that communicates effectively.

However, you may not have time to analyze all of the data that they use to measure your KPIs (SEMRush, Google Search Console, Google Analytics). So you need a team of SEO experts who can communicate effectively and build trust.
Because SEO is a long-term strategy, you may work with this firm for years. Obligation to work with a third party takes time, patience, and a positive working relationship even if you only intend to do so temporarily.

The Internet marketing industry can be confusing at times, thanks to the proliferation of buzzwords and acronyms. This can be aggravating for a boss. So many agencies won’t tell you exactly what you’ll be paying for.

1. On-page and off-page SEO

On-page and off-page SEO are terms used by SEO agencies.
Linking structures, formatting, header usage, and other on-page SEO elements are examples of on-page SEO.
Off-page SEO includes link building, outreach, and anything else you can’t control directly from your website.
On-page and off-page SEO work frequently overlap.

2. Technical SEO

Technical SEO focuses on your website’s architecture. It includes:

  • A clean linking structure
  • Proper use of header tags
  • Properly implemented 301 redirects
  • Page load speed
  • Mobile-friendliness

These are basic elements that must be set up correctly to build a solid SEO strategy. Many can be fixed during a site audit.

3. Keyword research

That’s what keyword research is all about.
While this may appear simple, proper keyword research takes time. Many factors determine how “good” a keyword is.
When researching keywords, good SEOs consider search volume, competition, and user intent.

4. Link building/outreach

This is one of the most time-consuming aspects of SEO. Google’s opinion of your website is heavily influenced by your backlink profile. A high-quality link from a high authority website increases the likelihood of Google and other search engines recommending your pages to their users.
Most SEOs will use a variety of link-building techniques when working on your website, including:

  • Pitching high-quality content (infographics, videos, guest posts) to other websites
  • Getting your website included in reputable directories
  • Creating great content that gets linked to naturally

As a result of “unnatural link profiles” resulting from low-quality links, obvious link-building solely for SEO, and other less-than-reputable practices, link building necessitates extensive expertise.
If Google penalizes your website, it may be removed from search results until the problem is resolved. Getting links right the first time is therefore critical.

5. Content creation

Without content, SEO is useless. There are a variety of ways to create content, from blog posts to full-blown infographics. Producing high-quality content that other people will link to is the ultimate goal. This can be achieved naturally or through outreach.
In order to produce high-quality content, it is not as simple as it appears. Your website’s success depends on the quality of the content you publish, which is regulated by keyword research as well as proper technical SEO practices.

6. Competitor research

SEO strategies worth their salt include competitor research as an essential component.
As a benefit of Internet marketing, you can easily see how your competitors are doing. While it may not be possible to copy exactly what your competitors are doing online, it’s almost certainly possible to follow suit and achieve the same results.
Analyzing your competitors’ backlink profiles can help you find new opportunities for linking, as can monitoring the sites that outrank you for specific keywords and keeping tabs on the content and promotion strategies used by your competitors.
Due to the ever-changing nature of SEO and Internet marketing in general, it is critical to conduct competitor research. Keeping tabs on what your peers in your industry are doing is a great way to ensure that you don’t fall behind.

7. Prevent negative SEO

There are some overlaps between technical SEO and link-building here. There are bad backlinks that can harm your site’s ranking just as there are good backlinks.
Keep track of all of the incoming links to your site so that the bad ones can be removed via disavowing through Google, or by politely requesting the linking websites to remove them. This is extremely important.

When you work with an SEO agency, you’re working with a company that specializes in helping businesses like yours rise to the top of search results. Increased visibility in search engines means more visitors to your website, which in turn means more leads, phone calls, and sales opportunities.
There’s no end in sight when it comes to website management. You can’t beat the joy of raising glasses and toasting to a new website that looks great.
In the weeks and months that follow, many companies find themselves asking the same question: Where is all the traffic?
Creating a website is only the first step in the long process of maintaining a high-impact website. Your business can continue to grow and earn more money if you partner with a reputable SEO firm.

What should an SEO company’s services include?

It can be difficult to decipher the specifics of what an SEO firm is doing. Since every business (whether a local SEO agency or an e-commerce SEO agency) and every campaign is different, there are many variables at play.
The following is a checklist of things to look for in an SEO firm, as well as some key questions to think about when interviewing one:

Investigate and examine your website and intended audience.

  • Your website’s current performance: how would you rate it?
  • What is it that your competitors in your industry are doing that is successful?
  • What are the keywords that your target audience uses to find you?
  • What kind of results can you reasonably expect based on your SEO budget?

Make on-page SEO changes to your website.

  • Are the page titles and meta descriptions optimized for search engines?
  • Is the content on your website clear, concise, and search engine-friendly?
  • Do you use the proper terminology when describing your services and value-added services?
  • Are the pages properly optimized for the appropriate keywords and topics?

Make changes to your off-page SEO.

  • Is your website receiving links and mentions from other sites on the internet?
  • Is your server configuration up and running properly?
  • How quickly does your website load?
  • Is your website secure, and does it offer a good user experience?

Communicate clearly and frequently, and provide frequent updates.

  • How frequently will you receive SEO reports?
  • What information is contained in SEO reports?
  • What are the campaign objectives that you and your team have agreed on?
  • How well does your SEO company keep up with the constant changes in the business world?

Creating content or directly collaborating with someone who is an expert

  • What content opportunities do you currently have for your website?
  • What type of content is most effective for your target audience?
  • How can we ensure that our content is search engine optimized?
  • Can you tell me if the website’s content contains compelling calls to action?

Experiment with and test your hypotheses

  • How can we use data to help us make better decisions?
  • Can you tell me which parts of the site we can A/B test?
  • What are the most effective key power phrases for motivating visitors to take action?
  • What are the most promising new or upcoming areas of opportunity?

These six areas provide an overview of key focal points for many SEO companies, as well as some questions that you should be discussing with your SEO partner on a regular basis, according to Google.
While our six key points are useful, no campaign can be reduced to a simple list — and successful SEO campaigns require ongoing optimization in order to achieve the best possible results.
You can always capture more traffic and increase the conversion potential of the traffic that you already have on your site. In addition, a good SEO company will have a robust follow-up process that allows for constant testing, adjusting, and tweaking to the strategy behind the campaign as well as to your website.
In our experience, most companies redesign their websites every three to four years on average, so treat the pages on your site as if they were part of a living document. Search patterns in your industry are constantly shifting, and your SEO campaign must adapt in order to remain as effective and efficient as possible.
It’s important to find an SEO company that can respond to changes as quickly as your company.
